We will dive into the dimensional stitching that defines my style. You will learn how to create raised, organic forms using dense French knots, satin stitches, and feathered embroidery, plus how to seamlessly integrate glass and pearl-like beadwork into your threads. We will also explore stitching on unconventional bases, such as acrylic-painted canvas and vintage book pages.
Everything you need is provided. You will receive a complete materials kit containing a premium wooden display hoop, hand-selected threads, needles, beads, and your mixed-media base. Just bring your enthusiasm and perhaps a favorite pair of small craft scissors.
Embroidery is a beautifully slow, meditative process. My typical 6-inch to 8-inch hoop designs require anywhere from 5 to over 15 hours of dedicated handwork. During the workshop, you will learn every technique needed for the design and make solid progress on your piece. You will take home your hoop, the remaining supplies, and the confidence to complete your hang-ready artwork at your own pace.
Because we work with sharp embroidery needles, delicate glass beads, and techniques that require prolonged focus and patience, these sessions are best suited for adults and older teens.
